Changing Career Path to Supply Chain

“How do I swap careers into Supply Chain” or “How do I get started on a career in Supply Chain” I get a lot of people asking me this type of question from all over the World. Often they’ve been working in a specific field for a few years like IT or HR and want to switch direction. Or, they might be studying at University and want to focus more on Supply Chain. So here is the advice I generally give. Firstly, be clear on what you want to achieve. What kind of career do you want to develop and where would...

Do Your Customers Value You?

I’ve been running my own businesses now for 21 years. And over those 21 years I’ve been lucky to have formed some great relationships with our customers. many of course have become friends. Many have been customers since day one, even though they may have moved roles and organisations. The great business gurus and mentors are often heard to say something like, if you want to go into business, make sure it’s something you really enjoy! And of course, working with great people is a major part of that. People in our own...

Making a Long Walk More Meaningful

Time to think about others perhaps… ? As you might know, in recent years I have taken up long distance hikes as a way of taking a break. During the planning of our latest adventure walk, my wife Pat and I wanted to add some additional purpose to our journey. We had taken some time out again, from the day-to-day, to walk the 790 kilometres of the Camino Frances from St Jean Pied de Port in France, to Santiago de Compostela in North Western Spain.  This is an ancient Pilgrimage route to the tomb of St James.     It was the 3rd time we...

Taking a Break

Posted by on May 4, 2018 in News, Personal | 0 comments

There won’t be any posts on here for a couple of months, because I’ll be taking a break. For 2 or 3 months. That’s a tip by the way.   As a business owner or senior Executive you need to take good breaks.  Proper breaks.  You’ll come back refreshed and energised and will add far more value! OK, you might not be able to manage 2-3 months, but you get the point right? I won’t be thinking about work at all, except for the last day.  I promised to shoot some videos. So here they are....
